A female charged with stalking Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a voicemail message which questioned: "what if I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who court testimony revealed has persistently claimed she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, the court learned call records and information obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported investigations and remains unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

One phone message, shared in court, captured Ms Wandelt saying: "I realize I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I believe."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Suppose there is a small chance that I am she? Then what? Wouldn't that be significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I have a living here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the recording stated.

The tribunal was told that through emails, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, forwarded early photographs to her phone in a attempt to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, an investigator with the police force who gathered the information, told the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also communicated with family friends of the McCanns, based on the phone records.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I won't give up and I intend to demonstrate my point."

The court learned the co-defendant struck up a connection via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in Leicestershire in December 2024.

Call logs showed Mrs Spragg had reached out through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the period leading up to the trip to Rothley, Leicestershire, in that winter.
