Clair Obscur Dominates at the 2025's Gaming Honors
The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards were hosted this past week, and through an impressive display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. The breakout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the coveted Game of the Year award, along with honors for Outstanding Narrative and Best Visual Design.
Complementing the studio's success, the talented performers also received personal awards. Jennifer English received Best Lead Performer for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Supporting Performance Award for his acting as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive the studio received Best Development Team. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved seven awards throughout the ceremony.
Additional standout winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Outstanding Audio and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Outstanding Independent Game and PC Game of the Year. It is important to note, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only four special—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame, and Streamers’ Choice—determined by experts.
