Donald Trump has announced he is hiking duties on goods shipped from Canada after the region of the Ontario government broadcast an anti-tariff ad using ex-President Reagan.

In a social media update on Saturday, Donald Trump called the commercial a "fraud" and condemned Canada's officials for not taking down it prior to the World Series.

"Due to their serious misrepresentation of the reality, and unfriendly action, I am hiking the import tax on Canadian goods by 10% on top of what they are paying now," he wrote.

After Donald Trump on last Thursday ended trade talks with Canadian officials, the Ontario's leader stated he would remove the commercial.

The Province Reaction

Doug Ford the Premier said on last Friday that he would halt his region's anti-tariff commercial series in the America, telling reporters that he made the decision after talks with the Prime Minister the Canadian PM "in order that trade talks can resume".

He noted it would remain broadcast over the weekend, featuring contests for the World Series, which involves the Toronto Blue Jays versus the Dodgers.

Trade Background

The Canadian nation is the sole G7 nation state that has not achieved a agreement with the United States since Trump commenced seeking to impose high tariffs on products from major trade partners.

The America has earlier applied a thirty-five percent duty on all Canadian products - though many are excluded under an current commercial pact. It has furthermore imposed sector-specific levies on Canada's goods, including a 50% duty on metals and twenty-five percent on automobiles.

In his post, posted while he was flying to Southeast Asia, the President indicated he was imposing 10 percent to the existing tariffs.

Seventy-five percent of Canada's exported goods are shipped to the United States, and Ontario is host to the majority of Canadian automobile manufacturing.

Ronald Reagan Advertisement Information

The advert, which was paid for by the Ontario authorities, cites former US President Ronald Reagan, a Republican and figure of conservative values, saying import taxes "damage American citizens".

The video includes segments from a 1987 national radio address that centered on foreign trade.

The Ronald Reagan Foundation, which is responsible for maintaining the former president's heritage, had condemned the advert for using "selective" recordings and said it distorted Reagan's 1987 speech. It further noted the Ontario government had not obtained authorization to use it.

Ongoing Tensions

In his message on social media on Saturday, Trump stated that the advert should have been pulled down before.

"The Ad was to be removed IMMEDIATELY, but they let it run last night during the MLB finals, aware that it was a DECEPTION," he posted, while traveling to Asia.

the Premier had earlier vowed to broadcast the Ronald Reagan advert in each Republican region in the United States.

Each of Trump and the PM will be going to the Association of Southeast Asian Nation in Malaysia, but Trump advised the media accompanying him on the presidential plane that he does not have any "intention" of conferring with his Canadian counterpart during the trip.

In his post, the President also accused Canada of trying to affect an future Supreme Court legal case which could halt his complete tax system.

The case, to be heard by the highest US court soon, will determine whether the duties are legal.

On last Thursday, the President further condemned, stating that the commercial was created to "interfere" with "the most significant legal case"

The Reagan commercial is not the sole way that the region – location of the Toronto team – is using the MLB finals as a stage to criticize the President's import taxes.

In a recording shared on Friday, Ford and Gavin Newsom Newsom jokingly placed wagers about which team would triumph the finals.

Both men repeatedly teased about duties in the recording, with the Premier promising to send Newsom a container of syrup if the Dodgers succeed.

"The duty might set me back a few extra bucks at the frontier nowadays, but it'll be acceptable," he stated.

In response, the Governor requested Doug Ford to continue permitting American beverages to be available in province liquor stores, and pledged to deliver "the state's premium vino" if the Toronto team win.

They ended their dialogue each declaring: "Cheers to a great MLB finals, and a duty-free alliance between Ontario and the state."
