Football Expert Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match winning run came to an end by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, but can the Premier League leaders recover against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, readers and a range of guests.

For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's new album, the new release, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I will not push football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football team," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their offense is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's only on the road win this season came at Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno was still that team's coach.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four games.

A family member advised me to get Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much fortune on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will try to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.

Fulham have got lots of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

Their display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Rather, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know the visitors are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

It is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
