Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
