Six Individuals Detained Following €12M Robbery on Gold Refining Lab in France

A team of six suspects equipped with high-powered firearms detonated charges to breach the security of a gold treatment facility located in Lyon, slightly injuring five employees during what appears to be the latest high-profile daytime heist to occur in the country.

The audacious robbery was carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, with officers quickly arresting the suspected perpetrators and securing the stolen items valued at approximately 12 million euros (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five workers of the gold refining company were slightly hurt from the blast, and three of them were transported to hospital for evaluation, the regional prefecture announced. Twenty-eight workers were at the location when the thieves struck.

Those arrested, believed to be seasoned offenders, were arrested shortly after the incident in the neighboring community of the town of Vénissieux, according to investigative sources.

A woman involved involved in the raid was also apprehended, officers confirmed.

“Six suspects who employed explosive devices in an assault targeting a metals processing plant in Lyon, France were arrested at the scene,” France's security official declared on social media, commending law enforcement for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.

The raid happened as French police on the same day detained five further people, including a primary suspect, in connection with this month's brazen Louvre museum robbery.

Many investigative personnel have been searching for four perpetrators who employed a truck featuring an elevating platform and cutting gear to breach a first-floor gallery at the renowned museum on the nineteenth of October, making off with precious items estimated to be worth €88M.

In another notable incident, robbers the previous month forced their way into the Natural History Museum in Paris, making off with gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A woman from China, aged 24 was taken into custody recently in the city of Barcelona in relation to the burglary, prosecutors stated.

The sequence of heists has generated apprehension in the nation regarding lax security at cultural venues and other facilities containing precious artifacts.
