The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
