Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge follows the boxing community offered condolences for the star in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
